As Cowhide week commences, many students anticipated the hype weeks prior. ASB decked Redwood High school in cow spot posters and more to promote school spirit.

Students arrived to school on Monday to a decorated front office. As you walked onto campus, fences were lined in decorative blue and silver streamers and a beautiful sign greeted students saying “RHS COWHIDE #65.”

The school was decorated with over twenty big posters, and this did the cow spot posters that line the halls of Main campus and Sierra Vista campus. Mrs. Aston, ASB teacher says “we have 25 big ones, that’s across Vista and Main. And then we have all of the dress up day signs that go up, and that doesn’t count any of the signs for the rally or the game.”

Members of ASB worked hard on each one of the posters that hangs in the halls of Redwood. The poster making process takes about two weeks, and that allows for students to get measurements and back the posters.

Mia Gilcrest, ’21, worked on the “Our Hide” poster outside of wood shop.

Once the prep work is completed, Gilcrest said “we can start painting and making our design. It takes about 2 days.” After they complete the two day process, they tape the sign up in their designated spots and they are then on display for the students of Redwood.

At the rally, which the ASB class gave up their Halloween night to prepare for, posters on display read “The Great Cowhide”. Ms. Aston, the ASB teacher explained how they manage to get the posters to hang from the ceiling, “We have to buy a lift that gets us all the way up to the ceiling, then hook it and its a long process.”

Lauren Kneeland ’21, the clubs commissioner, says “we were in the gym until one A.M. to set up for the rally.” ASB’s dedication to Redwood and our school’s spirit has given the student body the best experience possible.

Skylar Ford ’20, was responsible for organizing the placement and people working on the posters. As the leader, she was in charge of the biggest signs at Redwood this year. Ford was, “in charge of making a plan for all of the posters.” She gave assignments to students like Gilcrest. “Everyone pitched in to decorate the entire campus!” Ford mentions.

Of all of the posters, Ford was personally involved in making the sign that decorates the English buildings. Ford took on the challenge of this poster, along with her classmates, saying this “poster was the hardest to make. We wanted it to be a very nice poster because most people see it and take pictures in front of it.”

As students wander the decorated halls of Redwood High, spirit is present, setting the mood as we head into the last league game of the decade.
