Wesley Ball, ’25, has been playing tennis for Redwood since his freshman year. He says, “I enjoy all the strategy in it. It is very challenging mentally, but the feeling after playing a great game makes it worth it.”

When asked how the season is going thus far he says, “Its been going really well, we’ve beat a couple of people that have beaten us in the past, so we have a pretty solid team this year.” Some players have intense pre game rituals, but Ball prefers to keep it simple. He says, “I usually want to warm up the same thing I do in practice and just to keep the same routine going.”

Wesley found his love for tennis with his friends and family. He says, “I used to play pickle ball with my friends. Some of my friends did it and some of my family members picked it up.”

Teammate, Jacob Yang, ’24, says, “Having Wesley Ball as a teammate is a lot of fun and an enjoyable experience. He’s very funny and loud, but he knows when to take things seriously.”

“Wesley is one of our hardest workers in tennis, always doing his best  to improve, so seeing someone else put their all in, it really motivates me to work harder and improve myself.” Yang shares.  “I would say the thing that makes Wesley the player he is today is his passion. His love and care for the sport has driven him to work harder than 99% of players on our team. “
