On May 9th, 2019, Redwood High School’s FFA had their annual banquet in the Redwood gym and installed the new officer team for next year. Through this award ceremony and installment banquet, the club was able to celebrate the previous year’s officers and say hello to next year’s leaders. The previous head officers included, Makayla Margosian, ’19,- President, Ashly Wisehart, ’19,- Vice President, Tyler Richwine, ’20,- Sentinel, Sophie Wasem, ’20,- Secretary, Ella Bovetti, ’20,-Reporter and Ashley Waymire, ’19, -Treasurer.

Mr. Coon, the FFA adviser says that he is super excited for the new officers that are coming in, “It’s kind a cool time of year when you see an officer team do so well throughout the year, and then you always have to graduate some seniors which is sad because they were so amazing.” He describes the whole voting and election process, “When they get elected it just has a great feel to it and it feels pure.” He feels that they really earned it, “we have a young team, but there are some returners who will do a good job of setting the tone…M]my expectations are that they are really going to understand the fundamentals of leadership and that they will have high energy.” When asked what he will miss most about the seniors he said just their hearts, “Those girls all brought something different such as tradition, the absolute agriculture can do spirit, and the oh my gosh this is so fun.”

Shelby Wisehart, ’22, will be next year’s reporter. She is excited for the upcoming year and new responsibilities. “I’m hoping to get more people involved, especially the freshmen.” Wisehart’s older sister was also in FFA, which is one of the reasons she got involved.

Kelsey Konishi, ’21, was elected as secretary and is hoping that the new year will help the team connect. She hopes to create activities outside of school to meet other chapters. “I’m really stoked to be a part of the team, I think it’s going to be a really good opportunity to get involved in Redwood.” She wants to make any nervous freshmen feel included and to give them more insight on what FFA is.

Tessa Hemphill, ’22, was elected as sentinel. She wants to help everyone in FFA grow closer as a family. “I believe that to build a strong team we need to have a basis of trust and friendship with each other.” Hemphill says she is very grateful to have this chance and she is hoping to make her chapter proud. She is looking forward to seeing FFA continue to grow and succeed.

The girls and Mr. Coon are all looking forward to a great year of FFA. They all have some good ideas to get the program really moving by the next year.
