This Thursday, September 20, Redwood Girls Golf played an eighteen hole tournament very different from their usual nine holes. This win gave them the lead they needed to pull through to the first place standings for WYL.

Girls golf placed first in the tournament, beating Golden West by only two strokes. Rylee Santiago, ’22, had an all tournament low with a 76. When asked how this eighteen hole tournament compared to the nine hole ones, Santiago stated that, “I don’t find playing eighteen holes is more challenging. I always want to keep playing after the ninth hole.”

This is Santiago’s first year playing this tournament, but she says she had a lot of fun playing with the girls.

Sabrina Bianco ’19 was another low scorer of the day with a 96. Bianco thought it was an amazing feeling placing first and described it as a moment she “Will never forget”. This is Bianco’s last year playing this tournament and she remembers that for this eighteen hole one “You have to have a positive mindset and stay as focused as when you’re playing nine.”

Girls golf next tournament is this Thursday, September 27, at Valley Oaks Golf Course here in Visalia.
