In November, friends and families come together on Thanksgiving to give thanks for all that has happened this year.

In addition to Thanksgiving, a new tradition has been created called Friendsgiving.

During this society-made holiday, friends typically gather together to appreciate one another and have a Thanksgiving dinner.

All the typical Thanksgiving foods and beverages are usually involved in this event, but with this, this tradition takes place with a group of friends.

July Range ‘24, is co-hosting a Friendsgiving this year saying, “my friends are very excited, I am also hosting with Keira Bixler ’24.”

Range adds that the main plans for her Friendsgiving involves “having a potluck at a friend’s house with a couple girls and enjoying having quality time with them.”

She says, “Friendsgiving to [her] is showing how much we are thankful for our friends and just getting together.”

Range added that she is most “excited for all the food and friends.”

Range finds Thanksgiving to be her “second favorite holiday, close behind Christmas.”

Laiba Hassan ‘23, is hosting her own Friendsgiving as well.

She says her plan for the Friendsgiving is, “a potluck with some of my friends! We are planning on getting so much food and finally being able to have some time to spend with each other!”

Hassan says she is most excited to “decorate [her] house for Friendsgiving!”

She adds, “my family loves Thanksgiving in general, so the fact that I get to share that with my friends is amazing!”

She says she is also “super excited to let my friends taste my baking as I have learned so many ‘fall’ themed desserts!”

To Hassan, “Friendsgiving is important to me because I am able to share and remind my friends that they will always have me right behind them.”

She adds that “I want my friends to feel like they have someone there whether it be while having fun or during hard times. This ‘holiday’ reminds all of us about what and why we should be thankful.”

Hassan ends with, “count your blessings!”
