Vaccines have always been necessary for everyone as they develop. Every year, we are urged to get our flu shot, so they do have some sort of impact on the population.

But, due to recent events, everyone is stuck at home with minimal human contact. That leaves some wondering, do we really need our vaccines this year?

When asked how important it is for people in quarantine, Dr. Holvik from Holvik Family Health Center in Visalia, California said, “It’s always recommended and especially for individuals who are immunocompromised to reduce risk, along with the elderly.”

When asked if the current situation makes it more important to get vaccination shots, Dr. Claudia Perez says “Well, it makes sense, in my opinion, to protect yourself and be safe.”

When asked about how important it is to get a flu shot amidst the Covid- 19 pandemic, Dr. Noah Sarr of Holvik Family Health Center backs up Dr. Perez. “It is very important people get the flu shot especially the elderly”

Dr. Sarr also added, “Also it looks like there may be a shortage of the flu vaccine, our office has a handful left and our supplier doesn’t know if we’ll be able to get more.” This makes getting flu vaccinations now even more important.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reinforces Dr. Holvik and his claims as on top of the CDC website we actually see highlighted at the top, “Getting a flu vaccine is more important than ever during 2020-2021 to protect yourself and the people around you from flu, and to help reduce the strain on healthcare systems responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

As said by the entire staff at Holvik Family Health Center, yes, get the flu shot.
