Redwood’s baseball has always been amazing. As we look into the past we see many CIF and Valley Championships. Not only that but we have seen many MLB players come out of our program. Such as Hunter Bryan, ‘19, and Aaron Hill, ‘00.

This season, we will see Diego Alvarado, ‘21, and Ethan Garcia, ‘21, step up as they have already verbally committed to playing at the collegiate level in two years.

The only problem could be that there will not be many upperclassmen or returners. Redwood graduated 10 seniors last year.

But there is an upside as there is a talented Freshman group with Silas Garcia, ‘23, Joeseph Rico, ‘23, Joeseph Volchko, ‘23, and Darrel Tillman, ‘23. These four Freshmen are very talented and have potential of being moved straight up to Varsity or JV to fill the open spots on both teams.

As mentioned, Diego Alvarado, ‘21, has been speaking of going to Oregon State University which would be a very great fit for him as that school is based on just pure mental toughness. And I have seen Diego play first hand, nothing gets to him as he is just a beast on the field. And even in the toughest times he keeps his head down and goes head down sprinting into the dark. But that is only his mental game. He is such a great athlete and also has a great work ethic.

Now the other I had mentioned. Ethan Gracia, ‘21. He is a flat out baller. He can take you deep, and he can track down any ball within his area of play in center field. Then he can strike you out the next inning with his 80+ mph cannon for an arm. Garcia is now committed to Long Beach State Univerisity. And I can see that going well for him as he is a five-star athlete.

In all Redwood is very excited about this amazing season to come and will continue to prep and training on the off season until the first games come around in late winter.
