FBLA’s First Meeting of the 2022 School Year

On January 11th, FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) had their first meeting of the 2nd semester.

Mr. Avila, the advisor of FBLA, said that this meeting was productive. Avila says, “We talked about our section conference coming up on February 12th.”

He added, “it was all about getting information to everyone, and getting everyone signed up for their events.”

Jake Bettencourt ‘25, said that the first meeting “went well, it was explanational.” He said they discussed “the event and the specifics for each event.”

Bettencourt’s meeting was the next day; “my event is a database.”

Keira Bixler ‘24, is the Vice President of Communication Services for FBLA.

She said their meeting went, “really well, it was more of a short meeting. We went over all of the materials that everyone would need and the schedule for the actual competition day.”

She adds, “we are really excited to hopefully have an in person event this year.”

Bixler continued with talking about their hopes and main goals for this semester; “so this semester we have our sectional and state competitions. We hope to do really well at sectionals, make it to state, and hopefully get first overall.”

Bixler said that FBLA hopes to grow, saying “after covid everything is a little bit different, we’ve been able to pretty much pick up where we left off.”

She adds, “of course we would love to get more involvement, and really focus on having opportunities for everybody to study before the test.”

Nahir Karami ‘22 is the president of FBLA. Karami said that “the first meeting went really well, we gave everybody their materials for competitions.”

He also added that they discussed “the section competition and being ready for it, along with getting our forms and money in as well.”

He continued by saying that their hopes and goals are “to win the section once again and get as many people to the state level competition as possible.”

Karami finished with, “our next meeting will be in a couple weeks, we are going to have study sessions soon to prepare for competitions.”
