Ranger Station is an elective here on campus ran by Mrs. Garcia that gives Redwood students the opportunity to unlock their inner chef and learn the basics of culinary arts.

The class’s purpose is to help students work together as a team. Students are able to learn about their newfound interest in culinary and grow from it.

Sienna Diaz ‘23 describes the class as a way, “To learn how to work your way around the kitchen, what utensils to use, how to make a recipe, and the preparation that goes into making the recipe turn into success.”

These components are really important to grasp for those students who are interested in going into the culinary field as a career choice in the future.

Ranger Station is able to gain real world experience by holding a cafe every week. “From prepping earlier in the week every Thursday there’s a cafe held inside the classroom open to staff and even parents can stop by,” says Diaz.

Mariah Kishbaugh ‘23 says,“ We get the experience of what it is like to run a restaurant. We are given the roles of bussers, servers, and waitresses who serve the staff that come in as customers during our weekly cafes.”

The meals that are prepared by students are able to be purchased by staff. “The prices of the meals given to staff is pretty cheap, some of them even range from 7- 10 dollars for full meals,” says Fabian Ceballos ‘24.

This is a good deal and for the hard work that these students put into these meals all staff members should contribute and feel free to order or stop by their weekly cafes.

“These meals usually include a starter, an entry, side, and a desert. I personally recommend the chocolate cake it’s really popular! ” says Ceballos.
