In order to reach their goal of competing at state, a strong mindset and work ethic is extremely important. Confidence is key, especially with Mock Trial. To convince the judges and jurors you must be able to convince yourself first.

A helpful tip given by Harley Davidson ‘24 is, “The main thing is getting the mindset to it, of just being confident portraying myself as I am. If I’m me and I’m confident with how I speak, the scoring will be stronger.”

“ Our team practiced every Tuesday for two hours and spent time outside of practice refining arguments and questions,” says Jacob Hutchinson ‘24.

Despite having difficult cases to analyze and prepare for they proved to be up to the task.

“ The material is really hard to understand. This year they talked a lot about patents, and that’s a different type of law that we never really studied so we had to gain a new understanding of that,” says Indira Remkena ‘25.

“ I’m extremely proud of Mock Trial. This has probably been one of the best years they’ve had, all of the students are dedicated, dedicated to their team, and an overall great group of students,” says Mock Trial advisor, Jennifer McFadden.

Mindset and preparation are crucial components that contribute to Mock Trial’s success. A positive mindset can influence consistency in maintaining the preparation that is needed to determine a successful outcome.

McFadden’s praise of Mock Trial is well deserved. They have earned their spot to compete at state and the excitement can be felt by the team.

“ I’m looking forward to seeing my team perform at the absolute best level they can. I am excited to see where all of our hard work gets us,” says Hutchinson.
