On December 13th-14th Redwood Boys Soccer travelled to Clovis for a tournament.

The first game against Atascadero ended in a 2-0 win. Then back to back ties 1-1 with Clovis and 2-2 with Edison. Redwood ended the tournament with a 0-1 loss to Paso Robles.

Going into the games the team had an idea of “winning all the games and walking through all the competition” said Jan Marquez, ‘20. After speaking with a few of the players, they all seemed happy with the outcome of the games.

While, some goals were achieved, others were not. Not being able to achieve all goals was frustrating but the team pulled through by playing hard.  Looking back at the outcome of the games, everyone has things that they would like to change.

With that said Marquez would have liked to “Work harder, have a better mentality, and play better in general.”

A team goal that Spencer Lawton, ‘20, was proud of achieving was “tying with a Clovis team, which was really good for us, schools to the north of us tend to be more of a challenging competition because of their higher skill level.”

With having a lot of injuries throughout the tournament made it difficult to play the best of their abilities especially against Clovis.

The team relied on teamwork and their close bonds help through all of the hardships. They persevered through the tournament and the results were better than they expected.
