Creative Design is a club in which focuses on the designs of the built world around us and encourages members to help each other become better designers, club president, Nathan Perez ‘23, shares his hopes and goals for the club this year.

Creative Design is yet another club on Redwood’s campus that allows students to explore their interests.

Nathan Perez, ‘23, is the club president for Creative Design and he has very high hopes for this club throughout this year.

Perez says, “Creative Design is a club where we encourage design awareness amongst our participants by teaching various forms of design.”

He likes to make it one of the larger aspects of the club to be able to encourage students in it, he says, “(we encourage) each other to participate in little design challenges and critique each other’s work.” Creating a space for active participation and comfort in helping others critique their work.

Perez elaborates on what the purpose for the design challenges he mentioned, he says, “(it’s) to become better designers and better understand(ers) of the built world around us.”

Perez says, “I think it’s very important for people to get involved with this club because it’s very important to understand design, whether you’re going into that field as a study, or whether you’re just interested in it, or if it affects you.”

The aspects of design can have effects on everyone without them knowing, Perez says, “(it) affects every one of us whether it be advertisement or city planning. Everyone is affected by those fields whether they study them or not.”

Perez has many goals for Creative Design this year taking on the role of club president, he says, “I think we can really boost our participation this year,” saying, “we are getting some new members and we hope to have some learning activities that draw in a lot more people.”

Perez also touches on the topic of connecting with other clubs around campus as well, he says, “(also connecting) to more clubs by fulfilling orders for them, even between club day (having) various advertisements for meetings and such.”

Perez says, “something I’ve really enjoyed this year (as president) is being able to connect with a bunch of different clubs on club day, we fulfilled at least six orders (business cards/advertisements) and some returning orders on top of that…I’m just really happy that we’ve been able to connect with those other clubs and helping them thrive on club day.”

Creative Design has many hopes and goals for this year, from helping out other clubs around campus and encouraging students to learn and engage with the designs of the world around them.
