It’s almost time for baseball, folks. As Spring Training strolls along into our hands, we have seen many things happen over the offseason. From outrageous scandals, all the way to blockbuster trades.
Speaking of trades, starting from the beginning of November we saw immediate action from the Cubs to secure Anthony Rizzo for $14.5 million, as they wanted to make sure that Anthony would be with them for at least a couple more years as the Cubs could possibly have a dynasty with Baez and Bryant on the same team.
Another great occurence is the Yankees’ ability to keep closer Aroldis Chapman for three years for $48 million. With keeping Aroldis Chapman, the Yankees have just topped off their amazing bullpen, including Zack Britton and Adam Ottovino to set him up.
Another huge deal, was when the Reds were able to upgrade their decent lineup to a solid one in the NL Central, as they were able to pick up Mike Moustakas for four years for only $64 million. He is such an amazing player, as he had 35 home runs last season, behind Christian Yelich in an already stacked team in Milwaukee. But being able to keep him in Cinncinati for the next couple of years will be very good for the Reds.
Now, here was the record-setting contract signed by Garrit Cole of the Yankees. He is now locked with the Yankees of New York for nine years for $324 million, which shattered the record before it. This adds him into a rotation that did not desperately need him, but it is a rotation that is struggling in the playoffs. But Gerrit has a AL championship, and he has been known as a winner for a long time. He will join a rotation with J.A. Happ, James Paxton, and Domingo German.
All in all, this offseason has been amazing, as I truly believe that this has been the greatest offseason yet.
