Beth Musto: Clubs and Lifestyle writer

I'm one of the writers for the Clubs and Lifestyle section on the Gigantea! I write stories about what's going on at Redwood, and what people do in day-to-day life. Something important about my work is that I meet new people every time I interview, and learning what they do is fantastic! I'm just really proud of being a part of the Redwood Gigantea and writing stories so the people of Redwood get to read.

Freshman Tailgate: All The Fun and All The Games

This was the first story I wrote for the Gigantea! It's about the Freshman Tailgate, which happens before the first football game of the year, the Freshman gets free food, drinks, fun games, and gets in free to the game. I was really nervous when I got this story, but it turned out amazing and fun to write.

These stories are important because Rangers get to read about a tradition that Freshmen do every year. And it's special to me because it was the first story I ever wrote for the Gigantea, and every time I read it, I get to see how much I've grown to be a writer.

Redwood All Decked Out For Cowhide '67

This is about how Redwood ASB got all decked out for Cowhide '67. It was an amazing story to write, and my friend Liliana Madrigal got some amazing quotes and made this story amazing.

This story matters because it tells the story behind all the decorations ASB had to make, and put up around the campus. Redwood ASB put their heart and soul into the decorations, and did an amazing job!

Reflection

Where have I been?

When I first signed up to be in Journalism, I thought it was going to be a writing class, and that we got to write stories about whatever we wanted. But once I found out it was the school paper, I was even more excited to be a part of it.

Where am I now?

Talking to people. When Mr. Miller told us to use (J1 kids) and that we had to go out and interview people, I was really nervous, but once I did a couple of interviews it got a lot easier. Now I can interview without feeling like I'm going to faint. Every time I get one of my stories out on the Gigantea, I just get really proud of myself that I'm putting myself out there and doing something I love.

Where am I going?

A goal I have for myself is to get more pictures. Every time I get a story, pictures always hold me down and take a while to take. Another goal is to stop being so nervous when I have to interview. I am getting better than how I was when I first interview, but I still get nervous here and there. But I need to remind myself that this is something I love doing, and that's not going to hold me down.
