From 5-7pm on September 8, 2020, Tulare County Office of Education (TCOE) will host their annual College Night to help county students begin planning their futures. This year’s College Night will be virtual.

There will be over 90 schools, universities, and colleges that will be attending. According to Lori Narahara, the Co-coordinator for the event and a College and Career Engagement Specialist for TCOE’s College and Career department, “The goal of College Night is to give the students of Tulare County and their families an opportunity to explore a vast array of post-secondary options. It’s an opportunity to solidify choices and discover new ones.”

As well as viewing possible collegiate options for post-secondary schooling, students can attend informational sessions on topics such as college and university admissions, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities.

In the past TCOE’s College Night has been an in person experience, but like many other events this year, TCOE has had to switch to it being held virtually. But Narahara says, “The platform mimics the real-life experience of attending TCOE’s College Night in person.  Students will have opportunities to visit over 50 colleges hosting booths, chat with college representatives, download materials, and attend informational webinars.”

To make the best of this virtual experience,  Paula Terrill, the event coordinator, says, “Students should come prepared with questions they might have. It is a good idea for them to log into their CaliforniaColleges.edu account and take the interest inventory to help determine their schools that offer the program they are most interested in. They could also check out the online Index of Majors at https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/majors-careers.”

Attendees can register to go to the event today. Register online at the Tulare County Office of Education Event Site. Registration closes September 7th.
