Set your alarms, the Varsity Football game on August 27 is allowing spectators. Students, faculty, and families are excited to hear that they can attend the Redwood Varsity Football game because of a change in the rules.

Previously, due to policies for COVID-19, there was a limit on the number of people that were allowed to attend sporting events. However, that rule has been changed, and now anyone can attend any Redwood sporting event.

Although anyone can attend the Ranger sporting events, it is highly recommended by the administrators at Redwood to keep on a mask and stay safe from COVID-19.

Some students on campus who intend on going to the upcoming game have lots of enthusiasm for this change in the rules. And for some players, this will be their first home game of the season with an audience.

For some freshmen and sophomores, this will be their first ever football game in support of the Redwood Rangers. Maclayne Gonzales ‘25 says, “I want to root for the school and have school energy.”

“I want to support the team,” says Nizhoni Holguin, ‘25, as she plans to attend the game in full Ranger attire. She is excited that “now we get to go to the games,” after a long, impacted year.

Yet another Redwood Ranger, Blake Woods, ‘22 also plans on attending the game and says “It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to go. It’s great and fun to be around my friends in support of our team.”

Not only are the students at Redwood excited about this change in the rules, but so are the players. Francisco Vieira, ‘23, a Varsity football player said, “It will definitely help us play better… I’m feeling very confident.”
