Mr. and Mrs. Vieira are two beloved teachers at Redwood High School, and over the years their classrooms have grown with memories and varieties of interesting items.

Mr. Vieria is an AP U.S History teacher as well as the varsity girls soccer coach here at Redwood. Mrs. Vieira is an English 2 Honors and AP Literature and Composition teacher. The two happen to be one of the married couples that teach at Redwood.

Mrs. Vieira says that her and Mr. Vieira, “got close [because they] would go to football games together [her] first year.”

Over the years, the Vieira’s have gotten many items from students to put in their classrooms. One of Mrs. Vieira’s favorite student-made item is a drawing of ‘Atticus’ from To Kill A Mockingbird.

Mr. Vieira enjoys bobbleheads he has received over the years from family and friends. He also tries to get a bobblehead of every American president. The bobbleheads, “have just kind of become my thing,” he says.

The Vieira’s both have items that remind them of special students. Mrs. Vieira has a platypus stuffed animal that comes from one of her classes that she got to teach in English 1 Honors and English 2 Honors.

The group all graduated in 2020. She said she and the whole group were “pretty close.” It was the same group of students and they were all a part of the Law and Justice Academy.

Vieira says, “They were often stressed about life and all things.” The platypus ended up being their mascot. She adds, “The theme of that class ended up being, ‘it’s okay to be a platypus.” When the students were having harder days they would, “grab the platypus and give it a cuddle.”

In Mr. Vieira’s classroom he has a shelf of built Legos. During the quarantine for COVID-19, the Vieira’s, “didn’t do much so [they] built Legos” of all the places they love to travel to.

He says, “There’s the Eiffel Tower because we love Paris and New York because we think it’s an awesome city.”

The Vieira’s both enjoy teaching students and they enjoy all the items in their classroom even if “there is a lot of random stuff,” according to Mr. Vieira.
