MUSIC IS EVERYWHERE. In our heads, in our movements; always somewhere about our lives. Our generation’s music is one of a kind. Songs of all genres, music that hits the spot of many tastes. Some a bit more mellow than others, others more pop and party fun.
Some music artists actually became very well known and talked about these past years such as Khalid, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Drake, BTS and many more. Some of the songs that these artists came out with actually hit top ratings and became very liked by most younger age groups of our generation.
Listening to a handful of the songs myself, I’d say were are really lucky to be in this time and day of our lives. Some people actually can agree that the music of today really gets the blood pumping and passes time by without worry.
Christian Vargas, ‘22, “I think the music we listen to today is really something. I do prefer some genres of music more than others but overall I could jam all day to whatever comes up on a random playlist if i’m being honest.” With that I could agree. I mean think about it, what more is to be made with the talent and skills to create such awesome tunes? Though there is always the controverse opinion when it comes to a debatable topic. Diego Castro, ‘19, “Oh no no, don’t get me wrong. I do like some of the songs today. But because I grew up always listening to some good oldies, that’s usually my go to for any day.”
Though not many could say they would have the same opinion, I could side with having some good old tunes play to get me through the day. Some popular music choices revolve around rap or indie which have had high likings. Billie Eilish, for example is a very popular music artist of our generation. She is a 17 year old music artist representing our young adult-teenage generation. She mainly revolves around the music genre of indie and she actually released her new album in the year 2019 which got very high rates of feedback and lots of love. Devennie Rodriguez, ‘21, “I love Billie Eilish. The music and voice in general are so unique and she pours all of her soul and emotion in her songs telling stories within them that I think a lot of teenagers and young adults could really relate to. Her music videos are trippy sometimes because she has a darker sense of humor but that’s what really draws you into her music. Her unique way of creating something no other music artist would. For sure, I could say she isn’t just any random somebody.”
Hearing some of these and many more opinions such as people sticking with their same old tastes or always craving something new; really gets you thinking on what you alone would like to hear. What is it that peaks your interests and catches you like a fly in a spiderweb only to have been consumed by the predator in this case is our generations music and what is still to come? Of course there is many more songs that could be discussed, but to get the the sum of it music is a wonderful thing that was given to us. Who knows what new or old music artists are to come up with. Maybe we’ll be hit with a big bang or possibly something mellow and vibin’. Only time can tell and our patience thins as we await the new addictive tunes that we all crave for.
