Redwood Is Dancing Back Into Action

As the year starts off well with all the new students and previous students who have been here at Redwood, many exciting things are to happen. Homecoming and Cowhide being the two biggest events that are to take place this year; many people are to be involved in these adrenaline rushing events, such as the many groups of dance.

There are many dance courses here at Redwood, which are Intro to Dance, Intermediate Dance, Advanced Dance, Dance Force, International, and Hip Hop. Of the many types of dance class courses, most are already preparing on their big and small performances for the year!

Alyssa Boydstun, ‘19, is a participant in Hip Hop and Advanced Dance. Boydstun said, “For the start of the year, dance is coming along pretty good.” She explained how in both classes they are learning the basics, but with sure progression, learning the performance for Hip Hop once Homecoming and Cowhide come around. “Were already learning our dance for Cowhide as well, and it’s pretty fun” she says as she shares with hint of enthusiasm.

Focusing on Hip Hop, Boydstun said, “Hip Hop’s performances always are fun and everyone is always telling us after that they love watching our show and it always is exciting to see.” Seeing how everything is to turn out in its finished product, this years performances from them should be just as fun to watch as the previous years, maybe even better!

Devennie Rodriguez, ‘21, shares some interesting information about dance saying they are learning the basics to their performances, and the dance show, that is to come around in April, they’ll start practicing and learning for that around January. “I was in it last year and it was pretty good. We have three [performance pieces] to learn which is a bit more pressure; last year we learned only one so it wasn’t as stressful” she says.

Devennie Rodriguez also mentioned liking dance and how the experiences and memories with friends is fun. She also said she may want to join Hip-Hop and other dance courses because they seem really great, “I love how intricate and fun it seems! The music is also more modern and fun to get into once its playing”, she said excitedly.

This years atmosphere for dance seems bright and fun and hearing how a couple of the performances and routines are coming along, it seems it is gonna turn out well and maybe be the greatest one yet!
