A new addition to the 2022-2023 school year is an app called “Minga.”

This app is being used to share the latest school news and updates, create hall passes, show your student ID, and much more. However, students around campus have different opinions on Minga.

Keira Zachary, ‘23, says, “The best thing I think the app offers is notifications for events, where they are, and what time they’re at. That’s definitely super helpful!”

Aaliyah Jensen, ‘24, has not had the best experience with this new system. She says, “[I] wasn’t able to pull up [my] ID because the app takes forever to load at school.”

Mitchell Dean, ‘24, shares his thoughts on this topic. Dean says, “I think the school didn’t really train kids as well as they probably should’ve.”

Leaving Dean to figure out how to use it himself, he says, “I had a hard time opening it.”

Johnny Grove, ‘26, is one of many new freshmen on campus who are having to adjust to a high school setting, as well as learning how to use Minga.

Grove says, “I think the Minga app is not so bad because instead of having to get a physical note, you can just use your phone for it.”

With the app having its pros and cons, students are setting high expectations for the app in the future. Devin Fleming, ‘24, says, “I think it will be beneficial in the future as a way to get information throughout the school year.”
