Redwood’s athletes work hard and play hard. This season there are 8 different sports, and about 400 students playing those sports.
Being a student athlete means that you need to have the mental strength to excel during school, and the physical strength to succeed during your game, meet, or match.
“Find something that you are passionate about and that you enjoy because if you don’t enjoy it then you are not going to have fun.”
Ashley Wainwright, ’20
Elise Hyde, ‘22, is in honors classes and is a fall athlete. She currently plays Volleyball. “It does limit my time because I have a lot to do. It limits your time to have fun with friends or have time to sleep,” says Hyde. As an athlete you have to manage your time between school, sports, and your social life. They have to pick and choose between what is most important to them. They may have to skip something in order to attend something else.
Redwood’s student athletes learn how to manage their time and gain mental strength. This year’s Rangers are ready to learn academically and conquer their sports.
