With the year coming to a close, drama celebrates its year’s work with the One Acts. The One Acts are an annual event put on by drama to showcase what they’ve been working on throughout the year. A collection of scenes from the plays, one acts, and short pieces written by the drama kids themselves, the three night event was full of entertainment.
This year’s theme for the end of the year One Acts was “Intentional Chaos.” Jusmen Kahlon, ’20, said on behalf of the theme, “A lot of scenes were created by the high school drama class, so this implemented a really crazy show for the audience.”
Parker Chalabian, ’19, said, “The one acts are a fully student run production, so everything that happens on stage and back stage, is run by a student.” Chalabian continued on by saying, “I was really looking forward to seeing everything come together. I directed a one act in the show, and that was just a matter of getting everyone together and having some teamwork.”
Aidan Nankervis, ’21, says “I looked forward to the audience, especially since its usually the parent’s first time seeing their kids in a production, so they bring a lot of good energy into the audience.” Peter Nunez, ’21, told the Gigantea, “I really enjoyed closing night, and spending time with my friends.” Nunez also told us, “To prepare, we rehearsed for about a month and a half, and we worked really hard to make it the best it could be.”
The Drama One Acts serve as an opportunity for the all the drama classes to showcase what they’ve been working on throughout the year. Students work behind the stage on lights soundboard, and curtains, while some work on stage as the actors and prop managers. The one acts are a great way to see what the drama classes have to offer, make sure to see them next year!
