By painting their stomachs and arms, dressing all out in blue crew gear, and starting chants for the student section, Redwood Flag Runners serve as an important part of Redwood culture. After every Ranger touchdown, they make their way across the track waving the RHS Football flags in front of the stands. They also run out to start the game and at halftime out of the tunnel to welcome our boys in blue to the field.

Makayla Margosian, ’19, said she decided to be a flag runner because of her involvement with ASB. When asked about the flag runner’s effect on the atmosphere, Margosian said, “Despite our student section struggling this year, the flag runners help to amp the crowd up at games.”

Brayden Herrera, ’20, another flag runner, told the Gigantea “When students see other students get involved, they tend to do the same thing.” Herrera went on to say “I’ve always been pretty outgoing, so running the flag seemed like the perfect thing for me.”

Halle Arellano, ’19, agreed with Herrera, saying “It seemed like an easy way to get involved, and its super fun.”
