In the school year of 2019-2020, Redwood High School incorporated a new class into the big list of offered classes. The class is a culture class and is only offered during third period. This year, it is taught by Redwood’s ASB Director, Mrs. Aston.
This class focuses on the culture and atmosphere here at Redwood. The official title of the class is Student Activities.
Mrs. Aston explained in a interview with Gigantea that this class is a “mixture of climate and culture and leadership”. She expressed that next year they hope to “focus more on Redwood…it’s gonna be different ways to improve the climate and culture on the Redwood campus.”
Monica Aviles, ’21 expressed that she is frequently asked, “isn’t that the same as ASB?”, and she replies by saying “no, this is different.” She also mentioned that in the beginning of this school year, she didn’t even know that this elective existed. However, this class very quickly became full.
Currently, this class in the works of getting their class outline approved by the district. In this class, the students are able to “really see the beauty in our similarities and differences,” says Aston.
