CSF (California Scholarship Federation), among many other clubs, will be held virtually this year, due to COVID-19 circumstances.

The very first meeting was held via Zoom on September 9th. There are more meetings to come in the future.

Previous meetings were held in the Redwood gym and it would be filled with over 200 CSF members.

This year, however, the CSF Zoom meeting had a heaping attendance of over 300 students, each showing interest to be a part of the biggest club at Redwood.

In a regular school year, students would fill out an application along with bringing their transcript to get a spot in this rigorous club. However, students will need to wait until on-campus school returns.

Each student (sophomores and up) with an interest would become an official member of the club when school returns; there is still no set date at this time. The freshmen will get a chance to apply in the spring semester, depending on their grades from the current fall 2020 semester.

CSF is a club that gives back to the community by participating in community service projects. Unfortunately, as of now, there will be no community service projects due to COVID-19.

Katherine Tejada ‘20, President of CSF explains that “this year is different than previous years because the officer team and I have had to find new ways to get information to you guys.”

Though this is the case, the difference isn’t bad and people have been able to evolve to the changes. According to Tejada, COVID-19 has allowed this federation to, “prove it’s strength as a club. It’s our trials in life that prove we have succeeded in something.”

Tejada says this club won’t be taken down by COVID-19. Members in this club are resilient and, “Overall, I really couldn’t be more proud of the officer team and of all our members for how well they’ve handled everything.” She says she is hopeful for the future to come and that the situation so far has been handled effectively.
