All State Honor Choir is a choir group made up of highly skilled singers selected from all around California.

Redwood has multiple different choir groups on campus, each with a variety of talented singers. Caroline Cantelmi ‘24 is a perfect example of a skilled Soprano singer who is in Ranger and Chamber Choir.

Cantelmi started her choir journey in middle school. She says, “I first started to get involved in choir in 7th grade, at Green Acres with Ms. Mcavoy. I was in the her all girls 3rd period choir.”

While singing may be something that takes practice to perfect, Cantelmi says, “Singing does come naturally to me, I can carry a tune but as a musician I can always work to improve my technique’s like breath support, resonance, tone, along with a lot of other things.”

Cantelmi says, “My brother is one of the biggest inspirations that ultimately led me to be a part of choir because I remember being little and seeing all the friendships he had with people in the class, and how he would just talk about it as such a highlight of highschool.”

Cantelmi says “An opportunity that choir has given me is a place to belong at Redwood, Chamber especially has given me a family to support me in everything I need.”

Cantelmi says “Along with that choir has given me the chance to be apart of awesome things like auditioning for Regional Honor Choir. Getting to experience the process of live auditions.”

When reading her results for All State Honor Choir Cantelmi says “I was really excited, and shocked that I made it this far.”

Cantelmi says “I’m more excited than nervous the only thing I’m slightly nervous about, is learning the music well.”

Cantelmi says that the audition “Was a four part audition worth 100 points, it consisted of a solo worth 40 points, I sang an Italian Aria called Se Tu M’ami, then recite Scaled/Triads worth 15 points singing the major scale, major triad, minor triad and chromatic scale) then tonal memory 25 points where they play a scale of 5 notes and you have to hum and sing it back and finally Sight Read worth 20 points where you sing a melody on solfège.”
