Mrs. Adalian is a beloved member of the VUSD Community. Many students have been wondering where she is and what she has been up to.

Adalian is now VUSD’s TOSA Librarian.

Adalian taught at Redwood for 6 years, teaching both English 1 and English 1 Honors.

Adalian says, “After teaching middle school for 20 years, it was lovely to work with more mature students at Redwood.”

She says, “My favorite memories are all of the small moments when current and former students would stop by my room to check in with me.  It’s amazing to hear all of their dreams and accomplishments as they developed into thoughtful adults. It was an honor to be a small part of their lives.”

In her time in her new position, Adalian says, “It’s been a great experience working with librarians, teachers, and students all over VUSD.”

She says, “In addition to supporting life-long readers, my position includes helping students to develop research skills they can use for the rest of their lives.”

Adalian says she enjoys “seeing the big smiles on kindergarteners’ faces when they carry their first bag full of picture books out of the library. I appreciate talking to reluctant readers in middle school who still don’t really want to read, but enjoy the lunchtime activities and games they can play in the library after school.”

Adalian also says, “I really love hearing high school students talk to their site librarian about how a particular book helps them to understand and cope with problems they face in the real world.”

According to Adalian, “The work behind the scenes is challenging, but seeing the positive impact library services can have on students makes it all worthwhile.”

Noah Chavez, ‘26, had Adalian as a teacher his freshman year. Chavez says “She is very nice and I had fun listening to her life stories.”

Chavez says, “I hope she is enjoying her new job.”

Adalian says, “I would love to hear any opinions that students have on how to improve reading and research services at Redwood. I miss Redwood so much and hope that everybody has had a smooth start to the year!”

For Redwood students, with ideas for benefiting the library on campus, she says, “Feel free to contact me with suggestions at madalian@vusd.org.”
