February 2 , 3, 4th the Redwood High School drama department is putting on their Spring Musical “Bye Bye Birdie.” Some of our seniors have told us how this department has helped them and what this last show means to them.

Emily Sullivan, 23’, has been involved in the Spring Musicals for all 4 years and she is starring as a lead dancer and a sad girl.

Sullivan says, “This show is extremely special to me because it will be the last show I get to participate in.” Sullivan also adds, “The theatre department and staff have helped me to love being in the musical and have helped me to grow as a person so much.”

Bella Tanck, 23’, says, “This is my 3rd year participating in the musical for Redwood and this is definitely one to remember since it is my last year” and she adds, “it is a super sentimental moment to know this journey is coming to an end.”

Tanck says, “freshman year we learned so much from the seniors and grew so close to them and I’m thankful to know I was able to be that senior for other freshmen this year.”

Alyssa Sozhino, 23’, has been involved in the Spring Department for 4 years. She says, “This year is so different from our freshman year because we had this big show and then sophomore year we ended up doing a green screen by baseball fields because of the pandemic.”

Sozhino adds “A lot of people quit the musical and that’s why our 4 years bonded so well this year because we all were the ones that made it through the covid show of Shrek.”

Sozhino also says, “With opening night, hearing the audience for the first time if they laugh and clap it shows how invested they are and obviously we are so invested in making the show good, it makes the applause so much more special.”

These actors have been working so hard on perfecting their performance to show off to the school.

“Bye Bye Birdie” is February 2, 3, 4 at 7:00 pm and February 4 at 2:00 pm in the LJ Williams Theater.
