As fall sports come to an end, winter sports and even spring sports are starting to prepare for their season.

The girls’ soccer team has started to prepare for their upcoming 2019- 2020 season.

Gabrielle Bridges ‘20, is a returning varsity player. Bridges says that the team is working on winning the WYL title and moving far into playoffs to win the valley title. Bridges states, “our defense has grown to have a greater impact on the team and we have been working hard to be able to finish plays strong in order to pull out the wins.”

The varsity soccer team now has a new assistant coach. Bridges says, “I think she is going to be a great component to our coaching staff and we are welcoming her into our soccer family.”

Since about mid-September, baseball has been working out with about 25 guys.

Daniel Parker, ‘22, has been working out with the baseball team since September. Parker states that the main thing that the team has been working on is filling in the spots of the lost seniors.

According to Parker “coming off of a WYL year and playing D1, we have to be able to compete with being a young team.”

Lee Trevino ‘21 has also been playing with the baseball team to prepare for the upcoming season. Trevino says that the expectations going into this season are high and the team is expecting to take home another WYL title. During this preseason, “the team is working on the little things that will help us in the big playoff games,” says Trevino.

As the year goes by, the girls’ wrestling team is continuing to grow.

Girls wrestling stand-out, Sabryna Hernandez, ‘20, works hard to grow this newer program.

Hernandez’s goal for this year is to win another WYL title and make it to state.

Boys basketball has been practicing since summer. The team moved into playing in a summer league.

Nate Marroquin ‘20 has been practicing with the team since the start of summer practices. Marroquin says, “Summer league gives us the opportunity to play games and get experience.”

The team has been conditioning since September. This consists of running the track and working out in the weight room.

These teams continue to work hard every day to prepare for their upcoming season.
