Redwood Boys Varsity Basketball got off to a rocky start these past two weeks, but finished very strong against El Diamante this Thursday.

Wednesday, January 15, boys basketball fell short against Lemoore in a back and forth battle, ending with a score of 73-76. 

Nathaniel Marroquin ‘20 says that the team’s teamwork and hard effort is what pushes through hard games. Marroquin says, “We will work on finishing close games to pull out the win.”

As the week continues, boys basketball took a hard loss to Golden West, which ended 54-66. 

Tuesday, January 21, boys fell one point short against Hanford.

Captain, Nick Trevino ‘20 says, “The team held intensity and that is what pushed us through the end of the game. We will work on being able to not let the other team get in to pull out the win.”

Thurday, January 23, boys dominated on El Diamante. 

Girls Varsity Basketball pushes through their first two weeks of WYL.

The girls fell short to Lemoore with a score of 50-57. 

Against Hanford, Krissy Hetherington ‘21 and Kiersten Moshier ‘22 led the team with 8 points each. 

Ending the week, girls pulled out a heavy win against El Diamante. 

Krissy Hetherington ‘21 says, “After struggling a few games, we were hungry for a win and finally slowed the ball down and ran successful offense. We played together as a team and were able to get everyone involved.” 

This week, boys and girls basketball will be playing this week on Wednesday and Friday.
