Redwood’s Photography class looks to give viewers a glimpse through their lens’ with the upcoming Photography Showcase.
By: Karli Branson and Piper Figallo
Redwood High School’s Photography class is hosting a gallery to showcase their hard work. This gallery will take place Dec 6-8, outside of the English Building.
Each student in the class selected a photo they captured to display in the gallery. This is a representation of the skills that Photography class has learned thus far.
Students are welcome to freely view the gallery and can be entered into a raffle by voting for their favorite picture. The winner of this raffle will be announced on Friday Dec 8 to pick up their $10 Dutch Bros gift card.
Atticus White ‘24 was volunteered by the class to be the head of this event. He says, “This is us with our photo class doing our best to show off our skills for the public to see.”
He continues, “I was very happy to take the helm and do my best to help out Miller and everyone else that was doing their best to make this happen. I am very excited to see the final product of our efforts.
“The fruits of our labor is one thing I love to see so I am hoping to help make it happen and build the final project,” says White.
This is how Redwood Photography has advanced this year, but the road to taking a glimpse through the lens wasn’t always so easy.
Photography Advisor, Nick Miller, has been working on getting a Photography class started at Redwood High School for the last 4 years. As a passionate photographer himself, Miller motioned to share his knowledge and passion with students while giving them a space to be creative.
Miller says, ”Last year was just building a website and getting gear, and this year there is a good group of kids who want to take the next step and show people what we do.”
“I am excited to see a bunch of years come to this point where we are confident enough to hit print and I think that is kind of cool.”
