Jada Griffith, 2019/2020 ASB President

With the new year coming in, the students  had a decision to make. Who would be the new ASB President? With the votes in, Jada Griffiths became  the 2019-2020 ASB president. With the Redwood environment fitting her personality, Griffiths has big plans for this coming school year. Griffiths has a great love for Redwood and she would like to continue to spread this to everyone who steps foot on the Ranger campus.

As it is Mrs. Aston’s first year as the ASB teacher at Redwood, she has high hopes for what Griffiths will accomplish this year. “She is focused on the students at this school and wants to make sure everyone feels that their voice is heard.” Griffiths is a very positive person and she believes that everyone and everything on campus must be shown in its own light. “She tries to bring what she can from everyone.” Mrs. Aston continues to share that Griffiths never focuses on the negative. When there is an event and something might’ve gone wrong, Griffiths looks at what went right, how next time they could be better, and not make the same mistakes.

Along with making sure that everyone is heard, Griffiths herself has a goal for this coming school year. She is involved in sports and many clubs and when she began thinking about how she will prioritize everything, she said, “ASB is my number one priority and I balance that above all else.” Griffiths feels that with everything that is involved in, ASB is the most important thing that she has.

Along with Griffiths, Josh Gilcrest, 2019/2020 Vice President, also has the same goals for the future. “I feel like I have all this creative energy and need to place that somewhere.” He plans to do this by making sure that everyone is noticed and that every sport receives the same recognition. “I want to make everything bigger and better.”

Along with Mrs. Aston and Gilcrest, Jaden Hydash ’23, thinks that Griffiths was very fit for this position and feels very comfortable with Griffiths leading the school this year. Hydash shared, “Whenever I see her around she always has a smile and seems to be sharing a positive mentality.” Griffiths is someone who you know will always have a smile on her face and she will always be positive. Along with the freshmen, the seniors also have some positive ideas about their ASB president.

Alex Salazar ’20, believes that Griffiths is a positive influence to the school. “She is very energetic, organized, and has really good ideas for upcoming events.” Both freshmen and seniors also agree she is very cool, friendly and seems to always have a huge smile on her face.

Griffiths goal this year is to make everyone feel welcome, and hope that they’ll enjoy this school year with her and the new ASB team!
