Tyler Patterson, 23’ is currently taking a photography class here at Redwood High School. Patterson said that he had always loved cameras and felt a bit limited to just using his iPhone.

He had gotten into photography when he was in fifth grade as well as getting his first camera. The first type of camera that Patterson started to take photos with was a tiny Son camera with a built-in lens from the early 2000s or late 90s.

He said that he “saw a photography class [and] could use some equipment, learn the tricks and traits.”

Patterson says that “just capturing everything and remembering things, or when you see something cool you want to kind of remember it.” He shared that he had started to take pictures early on.

His favorite memory that he has from taking photos is from his trip to New York. When he looked back at the photos, it was one of the first times that they had looked at the same level with professional photography.

He says that he is “usually pretty happy when they work out, you know, sometimes you get pictures and there’s just nothing there. It looked better with your eyes but when you get that one good picture, you stare at it for hours.”

These are some of Patterson’s photography work:
