Lainey Rowe, ’26, is a member of the Redwood Girls Tennis Team. Her teammates and coach reflect on her not only as an athlete but as a person and share their common goals for the season.

Lainey Rowe, ‘26, has only been playing tennis since her freshman year. Rowe is a star athlete, participating in not only tennis but track and soccer as well. She says, “I have always wanted to be a three sport athlete, so decided to pick up tennis.” [For this season] I just want to do my best at every match and I want to go undefeated in league.”
Rowe says, “This season I’m really excited for playoffs because last year I got moved up to varsity, but I was the lowest alternate and i didn’t get to play. So I’m really looking forward to actually being a part of the team this time.”
Rowe shares that her motivations for the season is, “really just wanting to get better and hopefully being number one my senior year.”
Noelle Keck, ‘25, shares some kind words about her teammate by saying, “I love Lainey, she is genuinely such a great player. On and off the court. She always has such a great attitude and I feel like she is just always super positive.”
Keck explains the faith she has in Rowe for keeping the team spirits high after the upperclassmen leave. Keck says, “I can’t wait to just watch her keep on growing and seeing the athlete that she is. I just think that the way that she’s playing now and how she’s doing is really like carving out the path for later.”
Varsity Coach Aubrey Buchanan, says, “I think she just instantly clicked with tennis because she’s so athletic. I love Lainey. I think she’s confident, she’s cool, she’s fun to be around, she’s just good energy so she’s a great addition to the team.”
Buchanan describes her as, “naturally confident.” She explains how Rowe is just a fun person to be around. She says, “tennis is all mental and Lainey has a strong mental being.” [For the future] I hope she continues playing tennis and she will continue to get better. Lainey is so driven, and I just hope she continues being her because she’s just great.”
