The 2022-2023 season proved to be an exceptional year for Redwood High School’s sports teams, demonstrating outstanding performances, record-breaking stats, and a wave of triumphant victories that swept across nearly every field, court, and pool.

The football team marked an impressive overall record of 8-3, remaining undefeated in the league, and brought the Great Cowhide home in a memorable game on October 28th, 2022. The boys’ basketball team exhibited resilience and teamwork, closing the season with a 14-15 record and maintaining a balanced 5-5 in league games.

On the soccer field, both boys and girls demonstrated their prowess, with the boys recording a 16-6-4 season and 6-3-1 in the league, while the girls soared to a staggering 20-1-2 overall and remained undefeated in the league.

Girls’ basketball and volleyball also made their mark. The basketball team concluded with a respectable 11-16 season record and 4-6 in the league. Volleyball outdid itself with a triumphant 32-5 season, not conceding a single match in the league.

Turning to the tennis courts, both the girls and boys teams remained unbeaten in the league, showcasing the strength and depth of Redwood’s tennis talent. In golf, both teams showcased stellar performances, with the girls concluding with a 6-2 season record and the boys maintaining a perfect 6-0 in league games.

Cross-country and track teams were no exception to Redwood’s sports prowess, each securing a league title. The cross-country team claimed victory in the East Yosemite League, while the track team maintained an impressive 10-0 in the league.

The pools were not left out of this wave of victories, with the girls’ swim team boasting an undefeated season and the boys’ team marking a 6-2 season record, while remaining undefeated in the league. The boys’ and girls’ water polo teams further fortified this, with the boys recording a 16-12 overall and 7-3 in the league, and the girls claiming a 23-6 all-season record with a nearly perfect 9-1 in the league.

Redwood High’s wrestling prowess was showcased by both boys and girls teams as they won the East Yosemite League, with Jennah Creason ’24 making Redwood proud as a state champ.

Finally, the diamond shone brightly for Redwood as well, with the softball team finishing at 17-9-1 in the season and 9-1 in the league. The baseball team, your back-to-back champs, ended with a commendable 22-5 in the season and an undefeated 15-0 in the league.

Overall, Redwood High School made a clean sweep, winning the East Yosemite League in 18 out of 22 sports, demonstrating the exceptional talent and dedication in its sports program this year.
