As Love Week came and went, seniors said goodbye to their last round. It was their last time experiencing this week of love and positivity along with spending it with the people they love most.
Jennah Cook ’19 said, ” I enjoy love week because it is a new way to connect, all of our dress up weeks in years past have been more focused on sports. This allows us to go beyond that to show our love for our school along with the students and staff. I don’t really do anything over the top when it comes to planning because are dress up days are really fun and easy to do with little to no preparation for them. Love week is a part of me because as a Senior, I got to experience it and every year the student bonding has improved. I’m excited yet sad because it’s not an everyday thing that you get to have a group with all kinds of different lives getting together and sharing fun moments with one another.”
Love week is a week of lots of school spirit that helps get the students involved with lunch time activities, dress up days, and the picnic that is provided during love week.
Luka Lyons ’19 said, “I think it is cool to celebrate your relationship status. During love week, everyone gets to be apart of something regardless if you are in a relationship or not. Love week is a part of me because I feel very grateful during the week and I get to see people showing love for each other. It encourages me to show love for my family and friends even though my friends aren’t at school. I will truly miss love week because I feel like love week is really special. Love week is an amazing opportunity to brighten up the school hallways and make people feel loved.”
Seniors have experienced four years of love week which now are coming to an end. They were Freshmen when love week was first celebrated and introduced.
Kassandra Silva ’19 said, “I enjoyed all the T-shirt designs the ASB comes up with. I love how everyone is included in love week and I’m looking forward to spending my last love week with my friends. It was bittersweet knowing it’s my last love week but I’m excited for the future to see what is has in store for me.
Love week will always be a memory they have from their high school experience along with the many memories they made throughout their four years at Redwood filled with happiness and joy.
Luis Mendoza ’19, said, “I have enjoyed love week for the past four years. I’ve enjoyed the energizing vibe of the school with the dress up days, the people taking pictures, and just having fun. Love week is important to me because it gives out a very good feeling that can be found and it’s when people are the nicest. I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of happy faces and people bringing other people up who feel alone. I plan on celebrating my last love week by treating people right and giving them the best version of me. I don’t plan to spend love week with anyone but if a chance comes, I’ll take it.”
As they experience their last love week, they will always treasure the tradition of Love Week that was started the year they started high school along with the pictures they took with their friends.
