History Day club will be going to state on May 10-12th at William Jessup University in Rocklin, California. They have been working hard on their projects and are ready to compete. The following students will be heading to state: Elliot Jensen- Group Website, Evelyn Williamson- Group Website, Jessica Sanchez- Group Website, Kayla Cabanas- Individual Paper, Ethan Lewis- Individual Performance, and Kyla Seitz- Individual Paper.

Jessica Sanchez ’20, said, “I’m so excited, it’s been a really collaborative effort between me and my group. I feel like we had a good website as well. I really enjoy my group as they are a really huge support for me because it’s my first year competing and I didn’t know what I was doing. I had them there to show me what we were suppose to be doing which helped me a lot. We are preparing by doing mock interviews and making sure to touch up anything on our website that wasn’t as professional as we wanted it to be.”

This club has had a lot of dedication on the work and show the meaning of team work as they help each other grow in their club. They are very supportive amongst each other and are very eager to go to state.

Mrs. Hinojosa, the History Day Club adviser, said, ” During my credential program it was required that we judge our local History Day county competition. I was immediately excited to see students producing a historical project. We went to state last year, which was extremely exciting for being a new club. During that process, we learned how to work with judged during the interview process. I am excited to see how students implement our new strategy this year! The hope is that we move on to the second round of judging and nationals! I am extremely proud of the students who submitted a project. They have spent five months working on their project, and it definitely paid off! We are going to continue to revise their project, and set up practice interviews with teachers on campus!”

This club has been around for about a year and have made many accomplishments along the way. They have serious and clear goals for themselves as they are headed to state in the next couple of months.

Ethan Lewis ’20, said, ” It’s really exciting seeing all of our hard work come to this and being able to place so that way no one is left behind. We really earned this and the people in my group know each other. The aid also helped us and we had a lot of work but it was nice to be able to get help when we needed it. I’m working on rehearsing my poem as well as mock interviews to be ready to go to state.”

If you see any of these people that are going to state for the History Day Club, don’t forget to congratulate them when you see them around and wish them the best of luck in May!
