As students begin to return on campus of Redwood High School on Thursday, August 14th, the beginning school year traditions are about to take place within a matter of days.
For seniors only, Senior Sunrise is Thursday, August 14th, in Redwood’s football field at 5:45 A.M. The class of 2026 can watch the sunrise with friends as they start their last year of high school.
The Ice Breaker Rally is Friday, August 15th, in Redwood’s Gym during 7:00-10:00 P.M. Students can dance with friends in the gym and have a fun night meeting new people.

Back to School Night is on Monday, August 25th, during 5:30-7:30 P.M. Students can bring their families to meet their teachers they have for the new school year.
School pictures are Wednesday, August 27th, and Thursday, August 28th. Freshman and seniors are taking pictures on Wednesday while sophomores and juniors are taking pictures Thursday.
Mr. Siqueiros, the new ASB (Associated Student Body) advisor says that the Ice Breaker Rally is one of the most important events of the year.
He says, “The first big event is obviously the first day of school, but on Friday the 15th, we’re going to have something called the Icebreaker Dance. Icebreaker Dance is going to be from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The whole school [is] going to come out, it’s going to be a big pool party and dance here at Redwood High School. Don’t miss out. It’s free for everyone.”
Sophia Diaz, ‘26, is going to be the ASB president for this school year. She gives advice to the incoming freshman. She says, “I would definitely say the two weeks are scary, but definitely you will meet your best friends in high school within those two weeks.”
”You’ll make so many friends, you’ll meet so many people, definitely go to just everything, go to the football games, go to the dances. Even if you don’t have a dance or a date to the dance, go with your friends, you’ll make so many friends within these two weeks and you’ll always remember your first start to freshman year.” Diaz says.
