On May 4th, 2026, candidates that were running for ASB elections, found out what role they might be playing next year.

After putting in the effort, going through interviews and making sure that every vote counts, most students are excited for the upcoming year.

Kadence Hetherington, ’28, was elected for spirit coordinator and says that she is very excited. “I’m very excited and ultimately just proud of myself too, and just, like, looking forward to what’s to come of the next year.” She says.

“So I definitely plan on just, like, if anything, just setting a role model, and, like, whether that be in, like, spirit to other things that might not get much attention, like orchestra shows and band shows, and, all the stuff,” Hetherington says.

Ava Dodson, ’28, is going to be ASB’s rally commissioner next year. Dodson is super excited for whatever next is going to bring.

“My goal, like I said before, I want, like, more engagement in the students. I want to have, like, more games for students to participate. like some giveaways, maybe even teachers [to engage], just things that are more entertaining for the students,” Dodson says.

Randy Hans Velasco, ’27, was elected as next year’s secretary. He says, “I’m feeling really excited. I’m really happy that I won. It was [a] really tough competition, but I’m excited to make changes next year.”

There is more to ASB then decorating the campus during spirit weeks and rallies. Velasco says that he will be doing a lot of the business side of ASB.

“Just [going to do] a lot of the business meeting, like [the] business side of ASB that, you know, you don’t really see, because most people think ASB is more about like the spirit and, like, getting people hyped, but there is also some business aspects of ASB that, you know, I have to keep into account.” He says.

Some of the changes next year that Velasco wants to make is going to be around campus. “But mainly the changes I’m going to be focused on is stuff in ASB, just making sure that we’re in order and getting things done,” He says.

Next year’s treasurer will be Nicholas Diaz, ’28. He says that he is excited about his role next year. Something that the treasurer does in ASB is they manage the budget, and does also some business aspects. “So we get to approve different club, like, offers for money.” Diaz says.

Sofia Zambada, ’28, will be the social media coordinator for ASB. She says, “I think it’s a big position to fill after Chloe Miller, but I’m excited to do it, and see that people who are there to support me.”

Zambada says that she doesn’t really have a vision yet for the social media side of ASB yet, but she does just want to continue to promote everything that Redwood does.

“I know that ASB is a big thing here at Redwood, and I kind of just want everybody to feel like they belong here, and hopefully through social media, we can keep advertising and keep making things for everybody here at Redwood.” Says Zambada.

A Redwood tradition Zambada is excited to start posting about is Cowhide. She says, “Cowhide, definitley. I know, being my secound year at Redwood, I’ve been able to experience two Cowhides so far, and I think that’s the biggest thing we do here at Redwood. So I think maybe videoing the rallies, videoing the football games leading up to that, would get people really excited.”
