As the Associated Student Body [ASB] Elections draw near, candidates prepare for the excitement of Friday, April 10, 2024, when they will vote on who will represent them in Redwood’s Student Government.

Sara Sozinho, ’26, is a candidate for a new Executive Board position: Social Media Coordinator.

The Social Media Coordinator uses social media posts to inform students about Redwood’s many events and encourage them to get involved. Sozinho is the first person to run for this position.

“I think this position is important to add to the ASB Board because it is just as important to encourage students to get involved on and offline,” Sozinho says. “More kids can feel included if we use social media to highlight their certain activity.”

Sozinho has been in ASB for two years and plans to use her experience in her new position.

She says, “In my years in ASB, I’ve learned how to get [students] excited for upcoming events. I will use that skill in being [the] Social Media Coordinator.”

As Redwood’s first Social Media Coordinator, Sozinho will set an example for future Social Media Coordinators.

“I plan to grow Redwood’s social media platforms by posting three to four times a week,” Sozinho says. “I think posting more would help the students be in the know of what is happening at Redwood and get them more involved.”

Sozinho has plans that go beyond her posting strategy. She says, “Some future ideas I have for my position as Social Media Coordinator are to highlight clubs and events that aren’t normally seen.”

“I want to make everyone feel a part of our school. I also want to show incoming students what Redwood has to offer,” says Sozinho

“This position means a lot to me. I can use it to highlight all the different aspects of Redwood and our community.”
