The Whitney game was a great win for the girls. It was a blowout with an end score of 55-23. Emma Vargas, ‘24, was very proud of the game they played, she says, “I think we did really well especially with moving the ball around and trying to give everybody a chance to score.” Vargas is not the only one who is proud of her team’s performance, Cassidy Ashford, ‘26 says ”I feel like the team did really well, we were all communicating and had a lot of energy.”

Unfortunately for the Rangers, the El Diamante game ended in a loss with a final score of 72-49. Despite this loss, this game was Vargas’s favorite game she says, “The EL D game was definitely my favorite because it was a constant battle and I had good offense, even though we lost we learned a lot and had a good time.”

The rivalry that the athletes felt throughout both games fueled the Rangers during the games. Ashford says, ”Playing our rivals influences us, it makes us very energetic and excited for the game.”

Alvarado says, “The urge to win is really high when we play our rivals, we all want bragging rights and to put our teams on the charts.”
