On January 9th, our Boys Varsity Soccer team played against El Diamante. Even though El Diamante took the win with the score being 3-0, Redwood played together as a team and now is working on fixing things and getting better for the next game.

Ben Harris, ’24, says, “I think that the team worked well together however we failed to maintain possession in the midfield.” He says, “I think that moving forward we can work harder to win the ball, have more intensity when playing and maintaining good possession.”

Losing a game isn’t a good feeling for any athlete but what’s important is how you move forward with yourself and what attitude you have while doing it. Ben chooses to take this loss, “as motivation for me and helps create a stronger team.”

Justin Jimenez, ’25, expresses the same positive outlook on their season moving forward as Harris. He says, “We just need to prepare for our next game. We all are going to watch more film so we can work on the parts of our game that we are lacking.”

He says, “Even though we took the loss, that just means we have to work harder and get stronger as a team.” Justin helps his team to look on the bright side of things and to take everything as an opportunity to get better or succeed at whatever it is moving forward.
