Girls Water Polo slams Liberty High School in the first home game back.

Liberty High School lost to the Redwood Rangers Tuesday August 23rd, 2022.

The Rangers from Redwood High School Girls Varsity Water Polo team won their first home game back with an unbeatable score of 18 to 2.

The Redwood Rangers Varsity Girls Water Polo first home game for the 22- 23 school year, was played last Tuesday within the Redwood swimming pool. With the overwhelming crowd cheering on the girls water polo team the girls were able to win the game with an outstanding score of 18 to 2.

The team captain for the Redwood Rangers Varsity Girls Water Polo, Hannah Kempf, says “It felt great to play our first home game, we played Liberty which they are still learning and don’t have a bunch of players who know the game well. So I feel like the game was less about winning and more about learning and trying new things that we’ve been learning in practice.”

Hannah also says “We talk about not playing down to their level and make sure not to assume just in case they had someone really good on the opposing team”, “ For this game after the first quarter we were told not to get any more counters so I was just thinking like make sure to get the ball out to the sides and make sure we set up a offense before we shoot.”

Eliza Howard, a co-captain of the Redwood Rangers Girls Varsity Water Polo team said “It was really exciting to have our first home game and obviously we wanted to win, so that  was a super fun way to start it off the season. Before the game we were hoping that we would win and we had won our previous game so we were just going with a mindset of making sure that we just stayed on top of our defensive, offense, and just played the game that we’ve been practicing.”

Girls water polo had a great score for their first home game back, in the first quarter the Redwood Ranger scored with 8 points, then in the second quarter the Rangers scored again with 4 point, then in the third quarter The Rangers scored 3 points for Redwood and in the final quarter both teams scored Redwood with 3 and Liberty with 2. Allowing the Rangers to take the win for their first home game back.
