Student performers involved in Redwood’s choir had the opportunity to amaze Redwood audiences once again. All of Redwood’s choir students came together in the L.J. Williams Theater on October 12. Students involved showcased their talent and passion for singing, and even students in the audience were excited to see and hear Redwood’s choir.

Redwood performing arts never fails to entertain, and choir students certainly have the energy to perform.

Dianna Heath, ’25 admits to looking up to Redwood choir as well as singing for her church, “singing is really important to me… choir for Redwood was always something I wanted to be a part of.”

For most choir students, this is their first choir in-person performance in a long time. Tessa Hemphill, ’22 expresses her excitement and thoughts since being away from performing on stage for almost two years, “It has been so long since we’ve had a concert in-person and I cannot wait for our friends and family to experience the music we’ve been making again”.

Due to the time away, some obstacles may be fighting off nerves but, “we’re going to have to be brave and give our full effort to get the feeling of live performing back in our bodies,” Hemphill says.

Not only did choir perform amazingly, but the experience itself was the best part for most performers.

Aidan Hatch, ’22 has had a passion for choir since he was a sophomore, “you make so many amazing connections with every member in your choir…”

Hatch’s favorite part about performing for choir is definitely the people involved because, “sharing your skills and art in a group like that is a really special thing that fuels the love for choir,” he says.

Although most choir students have not performed since the pandemic, their nerves were greatly overcome.

Keira Bixler, ’24 is grateful for the opportunity to perform onstage once again, “nowhere else is there the opportunity to create music from your own body with people that are just as passionate as you.”
