According to students at Redwood High School, Prom is always a night to remember. This year’s prom theme was “Night On The Magic Carpet.” The event took place last Saturday at the Convention Center.

Denae Jackson, ‘19, when asked if she was nervous said “not actually, I was kinda excited to get asked” but she said that picking out her dress was not all easy at all.

“No it was not easy to pick out a dress and the fitters made you feel like you wanted a dress that didn’t fit or you didn’t want.” Many students get a party bus, but Jackson went cheap. she said she was “…carpooling! No party bus for us.” It was a fun overall night because Jackson said she had no curfew and was able to enjoy the night worry-free!

Dyllan Rivera, ‘19, said that he wasn’t nervous at all, “I knew the person I was asking and it was kind of exciting because they had no idea.” Prom dates don’t always have to be a couple like in a relationship, Rivera and his date went as friends and got to enjoy the night in a group. Rivera also says that, “picking out a tux was very complicated and it was hot inside the fitting rooms.”

A party bus was planned but the plan hit a few bumps in the process so they decided to scratch the whole idea. For the theme, his opinion was, “It was different and creative, I really like the idea.” Rivera had previously attended 3 proms but was looking forward to this one the most because it was his senior year and he was able to hang out with all his friends afterwards also.

Although Prom was usually for juniors and juniors, many upperclassmen took underclassmen as their dates! Dominick McCormack, ‘21, for instance also went for his first time this year. McCormack enjoyed the night with his date, Mya Ables, ’20, and they took pictures early on in the night then attended dinner together with their group.

After more hours of preparation and high expectations, I think it’s safe to say Prom was a magical night for all who attended.
