Redwood Rangers with their various styles share what their fashion ins and outs are for the New Year.

The New Year has arrived and so have the newest fashion trends. As the year rolls in, a list of fashion trends should stay in the previous year or continue to power on.

The Redwood campus has a culture of its own. We see students adapt these trends from each other and social media, so the real question is, what trends are in and out for 2024?

Some recent trends that are being seen are puffer jackets, flare pants, streetwear, etc… These trends are taking over the Redwood campus one student at a time.

Kylenna Moumdjian ‘25 says, “I would say flare leggings and oversized shirts are in. The combo together is just popular and I see it worn a lot.” Flare leggings and pants have taken the school over by storm with a sense of comfort and style all at the same time.

Seen more recently is students choosing to express themselves but doing it with comfort. A popular trend going around last year and continues this year is cargo pants. Cargo pants are a staple in student’s everyday fashion and portray that same comfort.

Destiny Tovar ‘26 says, “Cargo pants are in as most of the time teens are wearing them, so [they] will always just be worn.”

Trends from years ago still trickle into the years over but for some, these outfits don’t apply as they may seem outdated and not in current fashion trends. Tovar says, “Skinny jeans are really out of style but for some reason, people still wear them even though they’re not popular in the fashion industry.”

“Scrunchies are definitely out, they’re just kind of old-fashioned. Neon Lululemon is out in 2024, they’re just too bright,” says Moumdjin. New trends are beginning to rise as students choose more of the neutrals and chic over bright, shining colors.

Matthew Bartolo ‘24 says, “Crocs are out of all of them, the charms just everything.” Crocs have been around for as long as can remember but as seen the old is now going out of style instead of being timeless.

Eli Bradshaw ’24

Alongside fashion trends come with where you shop and what kind of style you choose to wear. Eli Bradshaw ‘24 says, “I like to wear skateboarding stuff because I skateboard a lot, I wear baggy pants and baggy shirts some I can find for cheap thrifting”

Thrifting and shopping at thrift stores have been very popular recently. It is just another way students are able to express themselves.

“My clothes and what I choose to wear just makes me feel good”
