The first day of school, the first rally, the Icebreaker dance, Club Day and the first football game are only a few of the events that are happening within the first month of school starting.
The ASB team has been ahead of all the events coming up. Mrs. Aston, the activities coordinator, has been watching over the ASB students and leaders as they take on the responsibility of planning and throwing all these events.
Aston says she is “so excited for all of the events coming up. The start of the school year is always such a fun time.” All the events really help all students get involved in school activities.
Aston “could not be more impressed with the ASB students. They started working two weeks before school started to make sure all of these events could happen. There were many late nights and early mornings and these students always showed up with such great attitudes. They truly want to make sure the students on our campus are enjoying Redwood and feeling connected to our campus.”
Aston has faced a lot of stress with all of these events “but [she has] received so much support from students, admin and other teachers. Without all of them none of these events could happen.”
Her favorite event to coordinate so far has been the Ice Breaker dance. She loved seeing kids attend the dance in their 70’s outfits to match the theme.
She was excited to see students have a “fun and safe place to spend their Friday night.”
The ASB team has been working super hard to make this school more active since this last summer. Aston recognizes Alyssa Sozinho, ‘23. Aston said Sozinho “started planning these events over the summer and [that] is part of the reason they were so successful.”
Not only Aston, but her ASB students “truly want to make sure the students on our campus are enjoying Redwood and feeling connected to our campus.”
