The ASB Elections for the 2019-20 school year began on May 10, 2019 and ended on May 13,2019 at 1:23PM. The following students were elected as part of the Executive Board:

Jada Griffith- ASB President, Josh Gilcrest- ASB Vice President, Kylea Moshier- ASB Secretary, Edgar Jaurrieta-ASB Treasurer, Christine Santos- Rally Commissioner, and Lauren Kneeland- Inter-Club Council Commissioner.

Jada Griffith ’20, who was elected as ASB President out of three other candidates said, “I was self driven when I ran and since the fourth grade, I knew I was going to run for ASB President in high school. This position is important to me because I have a love for Redwood and a love for the student body here. I love people and I have a passion for changing lives. I want to make new school year memorable by being able to change lives. I want to implement bigger ideas at Redwood and let students be able to have fun. I am a very creative person and an out of the box thinker. I hope next year I’ll be able to come up with bigger ideas that will hopefully increase positivity in Redwood’s environment. I promise to not let the student body down and show that I can be counted on to live up with the expectations.”

Josh Gilcrest ’20, who was running for ASB Vice President uncontested said, “I was inspired by last year’s experience in ASB because I saw a lot of things that could be changed that weren’t being changed. I also have a bunch of crazy ideas that I want to implement to Redwood next year. One idea includes like Class camp out or a bonfire in the Mineral King Bowl. This position is important to me because last year I was Class Vice President and although that was really nice and I got to experience a lot I think as ASB Vice President I can do a lot more. I also want to build on the traditions that are already there. I have to offer to Redwood my creativity and my determination along with have 1000% effort in what I do. Being elected for ASB Vice President means a lot and I think this is the perfect position for me along with my eagerness to make change next year.”

Kylea Moshier ‘ 20, who is ASB Secretary, said, ” The Senior class this year has been so encouraging to me as well as our amazing Activities Director, Ms. Aguilar, who has modeled true leadership. I was inspired to run through seeing how each person can make a difference and I want to serve the students at Redwood. This position is important to me because I love being a leader on campus and this position gives me the opportunity to use my strengths to benefit Redwood as a whole. Also through this position, I will be able to grow myself and go outside the box. Through being Secretary, I will be able to record all of the amazing ideas for events at Redwood and make sure that we are taking action. Being elected for Secretary means a lot to me because it really gives me a way to step up into a leadership position so I can listen to the ideas of others to record them and also share my own creativity with the campus.”

Edgar Jaurrieta, ‘21, who is the new ASB Treasurer, said, ” I always had something for bringing positivity to Redwood and being a leader. I pushed myself to taking that role of making Redwood ASB. I want to make a good atmosphere for Redwood next year and make all the Rallies better than they were this year. I am offering Redwood a lot of spirit and being elected means a lot to me because not only am I in the class but I’m on the Executive Board. I am able to represent the school more than others.”

Christine Santos ’20, who is Rally Commissioner, said, “Getting to know the students and trying to figure out what they like. I feel great about being the only one running for this position because I wanted to be Rally Commissioner, but at the same time I wish I was running against somebody so I knew I wasn’t only winning because no one is running against me. Colin Watamura, Ms. Aguilar, and Mr. Miller inspired me to run because they’ve told me I’m great at creating rallies. Next year, I hope I can offer Redwood really good rallies and really good spirit. I also want to bring back everything that was there my Freshmen year. This position is important to me because I’ve been in ASB since my Sophomore year and ever since then I’ve liked the rallies. Rallies mean a lot to me because they are for the students and they are all year round.”

Lauren Kneeland ’21 who is Inter-Club Council Commissioner, said, “I was inspired to run by my desire to get everybody involved and I wanted to make sure everyone has a good year next year. This position is important to me because I feel that it’ll make the biggest impact on our school. Clubs get others involved and they make sure everyone is having a good year. I want to make next school year memorable by making sure that there are plenty of events for everyone to get involved in and make sure everyone is having fun. I am very organized and I’m really good at organizing events. Being elected for my position means that I need to make sure all the clubs are organized and show that everyone is able to join a club to get involved and to make new friends.”

Don’t forget to congratulate all the Executive Board members that were elected for the 2019-20 school year as well as Ms. Aguilar for her hard work this school year.
