On October 21st, Oak Grove, Ridgeview and Green Acres junior high band members came to Redwood to get their first experience playing at a highschool football game.
Mr. Ray, the band director, says “It’s always a fun experience for the junior high students to come and get their first kind of taste of highschool football.”
Mr. Ray enjoys having the younger kids around, he says “I think it creates a fun energy and a fun excitement and it’s something new that those kids get to experience.”
This night is a joyous occasion for both the middle schoolers and the high school students to get a feel for playing with one another.
Leonardo Marquez ‘23 says “They just have to listen to us and kind of get the feel of what’s going on around them [be]cause it’s going to be new.”
Marquez just wants to make sure the students “Get in the mood or get excited and pumped so they can continue doing band ”Marquez says.
Since Marquez has been a part of this before it is nothing new, but he says that it is an enjoyable night.
Freshman Emmanuel Rodriguez ‘26 who was unable to experience a junior high night because of Covid says, “We have to set a good example”. He hopes that everyone will be on the same page and do well.
Rodriguez has good confidence in the band, he says “I think it’s going to go pretty good; yeah, pretty solid.”
Speaking for the band Mr. Ray says “We are excited to bring the three middle schools on campus and we hope they have a great time.”
