Jennah Creason ‘24 is more than just a ranger wrestler, she loves MMA too.

Creason ‘24 has been wrestling for 12 years while boxing for 7. Alongside her commitment to the wrestling team she has been a part of the FCA club and the Middle Eastern Club here at Redwood.

When Creason was 4 years old she started wrestling for Redwoods Ranger Club, It was then that she told our very own Coach Watts, “I was gonna come to redwood and beat all his boys.” Now Creason ‘24 is in her first year wrestling for redwood.

Recently Creason ‘24 took a trip to Lubbock Texas to compete in the USA Boxing Nationals. In her free time in Texas she, “ visited the Buddy Holly museum in Lubbock Texas. I got to see some of the Texas Tech campus. I tried a bunch of the local 5 star restaurants.”

Creason ‘24 gives a little recap of Nationals, “We got there a couple days early to get checked in, the majority of the fights had already started, I was 3 pounds underweight, I checked into the women’s youth division at 146 lbs. I went into the tournament ranked number 2 but seated number 1 in my bracket.”

“ The first day I had a bye, the second day I competed, it went 3 rounds. I won by unanimous decision. I had an 8 count first or second round on her. (unanimous decision means winning all 3 rounds) the second fight went 3 rounds, won by split decision. (split decision ⅔ rounds by points)”

Creason ‘24 says what she loves about boxing, “I love the fact that it’s super competitive, there’s always new challenges everyday.”

Being a woman in the athletic community is already a struggle, but being a woman in a male dominant sport is tough, putting enough pressure on these female athletes to make some quit, but Creason ‘24 says, “I have definitely felt the pressure of being a woman in a male dominant sport but not enough to quit, there’s a lot of younger kids that look up to me and see me as a role model and that helps me push to want to be better.”

Creason ‘24 started her passion for Wrestling when she was 4 years old. She says, “I started wrestling because I saw a gold medal that my older siblings won in Mexico. I told my dad I wanted one but from America.”

When asked who she looks up to the most, Creason said with no hesitation, “definitely my dad and my coaches”

When Creason was younger she saw women competing in MMA and she told her dad, “I wanted to do that as well” she started her love for boxing when she was introduced to the Visalia P.A.L Boxing. She says, “The first day I was there, my dad figured if I got hit in the face I wouldn’t want to do it anymore, but he was wrong. I loved every second of it.”

In the start of the 2022-2023 wrestling season Creason is 11-0, with every win from a pin. Creason’s Boxing record is 25-3 by tko.

Creason’s plans for the future are, “I plan to go to college, but probably not right out of high school. I want to go pro when I turn 18, or compete in the 2024 boxing olympics.”

Creason is ranked number 1 in the nation for boxing. “There’s so many different aspects to fighting”

“I love fighting, so it’s one of my passions.”
